These barriers include communication and conductivity limitations, insufficient payment for consultation services by the DMT, an inadequate number of individuals able to lead a DMT, and the cultural barriers that prevent established laboratory directors from becoming DMT leaders. We will feature 3 diagnostic management teams--microbiology, hematopathology, and platelet refractoriness. There are a number of other presentations, most noteworthy will be a presentation by a member of the public who is aware of the benefit of experts to other physicians. We will discuss with the audience how little patients know about not having expert input on their cases.
