I don't the sample actually "clots". The RBC's agglutinate due to the antibodies which presents a problem with hematology anlyzers. Most protocols are that you pre-warm the EDTA tube prior to CBC analysis. In my experience with cold agglutinins, I have not seen any interference from this agglutination and PT/PTT testing. We have a lot to cold agglutinins at my facility.
